Birth Chart Interpretation for Bill

Sun in Leo

As a lion, you let out your roar, Walt Whitman's "barbaric yawp" that inspires and uplifts others. You too are untamed, untranslatable. You do not blend into the woodwork, but rather take over and exude warmth, generosity, with a deep desire to understand others. You are energy, a force that dominates, and at its worst you can be destroyed by a lack of fulfillment.

The Sun is most radiant when it resides in Leo, bringing with it pageantry, ceremony, the creative spirit, and the artist. Both fixed and fiery, impulsive yet stubborn, Leo is wrapped in certainty and absolutes that need expression. Leos frequently find release for their energy on the stage, enjoying the star role, or being the director or writer. In any case, the Leo is a visionary who goes with the flow in a receptive, never relaxed, way. Brilliant, cocky, defiant of authority, Hollywood is full of Leos who strongly emerge with the statement: "I am different! I am me!"

At your weakest you can be too dogmatic, which can be augmented with attention to flexibility. Your sensitivity is a double-edged sword, for you can also be hurt easily. You like to be worshipped, though this may be unrealistic. Your partners must remember that you are the king (or queen). You enjoy being wined and dined, seduced--you enjoy sex. Your expansive nature makes you broad-minded, faithful and loving. This translates into being very ambitious, and you thrive on a career that involves creativity, emotion, and organization. Your natural sense of drama needs to be accentuated. You would be at home in the courtroom, operating a theater--anywhere on stage and in-charge--you make excellent employers. You excel at working with the public, in front of people--an actor, orator, speaker, CEO would all be easy for you. No menial job would do for you. You would also do well at teaching because the classroom becomes a natural stage. Your love extends towards animals as well, and you could enjoy being a veterinarian or dog groomer.

Though money is not the most important thing, you love luxury. Your personal magnetism makes you frequently flamboyant, enjoying all the good things of life. You buy what you want when you want it. Or charge it. Saving is not in your vocabulary, although there are exceptions, especially if Saturn or the Moon were to mix with an earth sign in your chart.

A fixed sign, Leos stand firm in their beliefs. Don't ever argue with one. They can be incredibly arrogant, egotistical, pompous, bossy, with a tendency to get too attached. Because their faith and loyalty are very strong, they need to learn the Zen art of detachment and letting go. They need to not play favorites, but to turn to a higher consciousness in order to transcend their ego, and find a way to connect to all people.

Though they go with the gusto, Leos are not overly gung-ho about change. Always self-critical, they don't rush into any big upheavals overnight. Yet, leisure time is important to them, but it is difficult because they move so fast. Their courageousness must be tempered with responsibility, or they will have difficulty in life. They cry out for discipline. Dominion is also an important word for Leos. They need to learn not dominance over others, but over their own unsubjugated whims.

Leos move with their heart. Extremely affectionate, they are also self- conscious. They have more energy than even the boldest Aries. The most vital sign of the zodiac, Leos exude confidence, which strengthens anyone miles around. Their kingly attitude brings a nobility and aristocracy, ruled by divine right. Their Achilles' heel is that they do not know how to delegate; match them up with a good Capricorn and they are sure to get the job done.

Leo is ruled by the Sun, a dynamic force, but they must learn to become part of a higher will in order to achieve full maturity. In other words, they cannot be a slave to their own ego; they must become a part of Jung's collective unconsciousness, or part of something better than themselves, or they will be in trouble. They need to have an ego that is below God and love. They tend to have big virtues, and big faults. The challenge is to balance both.

A Leo may join a religion out of duty, but he is not likely to stay in one organized religion for long. His greatest contribution is when he expands beyond the parameters of the self and reaches for the universal. Leo's goal is to be the servant to all, with an understanding heart. To this end, no destiny is a higher one, and for a self-actualized, wizened Leo this is all achieved. The flaw is in the ones who reach for the stars, and get caught somewhere in the black hole. They might get lost in their own roar, while others get bowled over. They may love the center of attention, while others get trod upon. To their credit, a Leo stands firm in his or her beliefs, and attempts to stay optimistic, honorable, loyal and ambitious.

A Leo woman is candid, forthright, leaving nothing to mystery. She loves flattery, romantic courtships, and is an ardent lover. Her confidence makes her comfortable in the role of CEO, or some kind of manager. She doesn't like being second, preferring to be on top. In marriage, she is not content to stay home, unless she runs a business from there. She is never JUST a mother--she has a career, hobbies, passions. She likes nice clothes with flair and style. A natural actress, she also rules her children in a direct and warmly dominant way.

Make way for the Leo man, who must be at center stage. Never tell him what to be, or he'll be at his worst. He is so likeable that it is almost impossible NOT to like him--warm, outgoing, fun, all the qualities you really enjoy in people. Kids love him too because, in many ways, he's really full of magic. He is a natural leader and attracts people like a magnet. Honest, with abundant energy and ambition, he has his "court" following, whom he shares with his mate. Once committed, he doesn't let go. He needs distinction and power to command well.

A Leo is well-matched with others with similar energy levels, such as Aries or Sagittarius (also fire signs). Gemini is also good, although the polarity between Leo and Aquarius might help the Leo to transcend himself to humanity and beyond.

In romance, a Leo is very passionate, and can be impulsive, especially when the ego is stroked. They have a need to know they are loved before they can commit entirely. Once committed, everything is bigger than life and brighter than the sun. Courtship is usually dramatic: six dozen roses at your office.

Leos have a natural knack for improvising, but watch out: they can also be fantastic con artists. Their tendency to overreact can be infectious for lovers, with whom they are frequently overgenerous. Watch their motivation--if it's not love they're not true Leos. For real Leos, love energy flows through them and is used to ignite a spark. Others are left to bask in the glow.

Sun in the Eleventh House

A strong sense of teamwork marks this house, and backed by the Sun's strong rays, this individual typically has many friends, social contacts, and works well with the public at large. He or she makes a good advisor or counselor, and can be trusted to keep important secrets. This person may also be interested in the occult, and often desires group leadership. Even if you don't have lots of friends, you probably have a deep concern for humanity and may feel a kinship with those around the world that feel the same way as you. The only negative here is that there may be a tendency to dominate others, especially if other planets negatively influence the Sun in some way. Still, this House denotes social success, and most interactions are warm, friendly, and are full of generosity.

Your relationships reflect your integrity and ideals regarding people, and frequently you are involved in many clubs and group activities. The Sun helps you in your goals and wishes, which are more than often realized through your partnerships and friendships. Your goal is to be a friend, and to make friends, not to treat them as possessions, as a position in the Second House may be prone to do. Your goals would virtually be impossible without friends. You have a real need to make a mark on your community; hence you should use your solar energy for charitable fund-raising or other inspirational activities. You often take the lead, and sometimes need to learn deference. However, in some cases, the Sun here could mean you attract the wrong kinds of friends. You must be careful to guard against that weakness, and try to be a guiding light for others. Aquarius and the planet Uranus rule this house, so study the position of this planet to learn further information about your relationships to Eleventh House affairs.

Sun square Moon

This aspect reveals deep insecurity feelings as your conscious mind is constantly at war with your emotions over what you want, and how you should achieve your goals. There is a conflict between your inner self and its subconscious forces, a tension between the will and the emotions. Though you may be inclined to blame your parents, and may even have experienced separation from one of them while young, these psychological difficulties will remain until you resolve any internal frustrations that keep you from following your desires. Your health may also be affected. You may have the impulse to escape your problems by plunging into new experiences, but watch that you don't fall flat on your face. You need to absorb your strength from the inside. Don't be your own worst enemy, and even worse, blame everyone in sight for your faults.

Sun sextile Jupiter

This aspect gives you protection. You probably are strong physically and won't have any serious harm come your way. These people are generous, confident, optimistic and love to travel. You probably are also idealistic, with lofty ideals, and have had many opportunities throughout your lifetime to achieve your desires. In sum, this is a harmonious aspect that gives you self-expression in whatever area you choose to pursue. It also brings good health.

Sun sextile Uranus

You likely gain success through your independent and innovative mind, and would do well especially in such fields involving public service, research, exploration, adventure, transportation, electronics, the occult or even astrology. This aspect favors a long life, and you may marry early. If you are a woman, you are likely attracted to men for their intellectual abilities, and may be a 'pal' to them first. The creative energy here from Uranus needs to invent something, and the Sun gives you the will power to do this. You are also likely a magnetic personality who inspires others in a forceful way. Learn to channel this energy, for at its best you can be a strong healing force for others. This aspect gives deep intuition and valuable insight into other people. You don't pay attention to tradition and like to go your own way.

Libra on the Ascendant, Aries on the Descendant

Like true Librans, you have natural charm, grace, and a desire to please people to promote harmonious relationships. You are very social and enjoy above all else being with people in a pleasing environment. Libra Ascendants achieve balance in their relationships with others, and enjoy parties, holidays and other fun-filled gatherings where they can exude their Venusian influence. Unlike bold Leos, who revel in attention all the time, a Libra rising would rather be a soothing influence who promotes harmony, peace and love. She doesn't need to seek the spotlight; it comes to her naturally.

A Libra Ascendant does not hurry into situations or relationships, but takes time to make the right decision based on a fair, balanced assessment of any situation. You are likely to be a reflective personality, weighing various alternatives as if on a scale. You can see another's point of view, but unfortunately may be so busy taking in information that it becomes hard, or crippling, to make a decision. Thus, the Libra rising has a reputation for not being good at making a decision, or for sitting on a fence.

Sometimes, they can wear rose-colored glasses and see the world as it should be--happy and helpful. You are optimistic, but unfortunately can be thrown off balance by boisterous or depressing people. Try not to be too easily influenced by others, especially the negative ones who may cause you to throw yourself in a pit of despair. You're too good for them, and remember the wise saying: Change the things you can, Accept the things you cannot change, and have the Wisdom to know the difference. You need to establish a system of values to rely upon when making decisions that can help you make choices and take the consequences for them.

Libra is the sign of the scales, and as a Libra rising you have a great sense of balance and fairness. You are always trying to strike a balance between the different foci of your life: between masculine and feminine, between practical and idealistic, between right and wrong, between good and bad, between what you want and what others want. You hate with a passion all cruelty and injustice; you probably hate watching the nightly news with its realistic portrait of crime and violence. To you, life must be fair, and you live your life by that motto. You may be aloof, but you can still get along with people beautifully.

Libra on the Ascendant is constantly in search of that perfect relationship, and attempts to make better all the relationships she has. Venus's influence here may make you gifted in the arts, but you must develop that gift and practice it in order for it to be given full expression. In addition, a Libra rising may have a natural gift for politics or mathematics. However, you must guard against taking the easy way out, because this placement is known to promote a dislike of hard work. Of most importance to a Libra rising is partnerships, and often luck will come to you through some kind of partner, mate or close friend. If you are single, you probably are unhappy, since this type enjoys being married. You will likely gain wealth through a marriage.

You enjoy travel, new people or projects. You also may have trouble making up your mind, and tend to have a problem finishing projects once started. You need to get the energy of an Aries or a Leo and boldly take risks; don't be afraid to try something new. Aries on the descendant gives you the opportunity to achieve balance as the harmonious qualities of Libra are a good match for the Ram's boisterous and assertive nature. In addition, Aries gives you a more forthright interest and enthusiasm for sex, and more of a determination to work for your partner. Always remember that the underlying motivation of a Libra rising is to find good relationships with people. You have a natural kindness and sympathy, but that does not mean you are weak.

You have natural good looks, and a graceful figure with a radiant smile. Watch for the influence of Venus elsewhere in your chart, as it can give you beauty, charm and social graces when highlighted, or jealousy, laziness and superficiality when hidden. You must guard against narcissism and self-centeredness, and against losing your sense of balance if you have lost an important partnership. You are most happy when you have secured long-lasting partnerships with people who can give you the commitment you need.

Moon in Taurus

Since the moon connects us to our spirit, the moon in Taurus is a steadying influence--the emotional calm in the storm. This denotes that you are hardworking, patient, and appreciate the finer things in life. Unfortunately, you can also be lazy, stubborn, materialistic, and unwilling to change. You have a nice Midas touch, however, and are good at handling money and domestic matters. You are attracted to good things, and work well with the environment, perhaps even showing a green thumb--Taurus is a natural with the earth, and is in balance with nature.

More than anything, your calmness here means you do not like to argue. You frequently need time to be alone, to retreat to private space. The moon is particularly powerful in this sign. It is exalted, and permeates your need for security, conventional love, and a conservative quality of life, which may conflict with other parts of your birth chart. Your gift for emotional stability depends on the harmony of your attachments. You tend to be materialistic, enjoying money, comforts and belongings. Still, you are devoted and persistent in relationships and work, and once you do make a commitment you are loyal to the end. You can be charming, and have a love for beauty, but your pride can be an obnoxious weapon.

You are sensitive, have an even temper, until pushed too far--then you can blow up (the bull flares his muscles). Your great desire for security makes you good-natured, and you have an attractive personality, though you can become set in your ways. You must guard against being lazy, and against being so self-absorbed with your problems. Your worst fault is possessiveness, and an almost obsessive adherence to convention. Although you have a very practical, common sense and stubborn approach to life, you may show flexibility in other areas of your birth chart. The moon here shows that you enjoy the "good life," such as good food, material comfort, and any beautiful luxuries that Venus is typically associated with.

Moon in the Eighth House

The moon in the Eighth House, which is associated with Scorpio, denotes a strong intuition, emotions and deep-rooted feelings that can be categorized as "intense," or even psychic (as in having a "sixth sense" ). This placement also shows your basic sexual instincts, which emerge only when you are in total rapport with your partner, who must also have similar needs. Though you have a large reservoir of emotional resources, how they are expressed is dependent on the moon's placement here. If the moon is inhibited, the result could be psychological problems and emotions not easily expressed.

For you, it is vital that you build up complete trust in your loved ones and partners, although you are susceptible to jealousy and suspicion. For you, although sex is important, affection means much more than sex with this position of the moon. Your sensitivity regarding people can leave you too vulnerable, although your personality usually works to help people. You are very sensitive to social currents and demands; you can be very psychic, and may be interested in life after death. Your biggest challenge here is to sacrifice your feelings and become detached, and learn to live impersonally.

In addition, this house influences money you receive through inheritance or investment, and you may inherit money, possibly from your mother's side. The moon influences this also, as your joint finances may go through many fluctuations and changes.

Mercury in Leo

You have a unique personal style that is magnetic, ambitious, and intuitive, but you must guard against becoming lazy mentally or becoming too rigid in your viewpoints. This placement reveals the perpetual adolescent, who is forever trying to assert his identity while all the while wanting to play and have fun. You have Leo's heart and Mercury's brain--the true combination for a seasoned adult. And yet, your sense of dignity and refinement needs to work in service to others in order to have worth.

You have great willpower and lofty ideals, but can be self-centered, with your thoughts revolving around children, pets, drama and sports. Your unique ability for leadership is many times perceived as being dominant and showy. Though you do have great self-confidence, you are slow to make up your mind, or to change your mind. Still, your gusto gives you the power to achieve your goals once you've decided on them--whether gaining investments in the stock market, acting in the theater, or pursuing the arts or education. You also may enjoy combining travel with work and pleasure.

Though you are many times stubborn and inflexible, you have excellent planning and organizational ability. This makes you practical and conventional, with a determined mental and nervous energy that bounces off others. You are good at concentrating, and typically exaggerate stories and events. Your enthusiasm will abound, unless there are negative influences elsewhere in your birth chart. Communication is usually good, although it can be construed as condescending.

If you are a Cancer, this placement is positive. You will have less tendency to worry, have more ability to stick to long-terms plans, but can be surprisingly bossy. If you are a Leo, you may be too bossy with Mercury also in Leo, but rest assured you have fiery enthusiasm somewhere in your personality that will be enhanced by positive thinking. A Virgo with Mercury here may have more self-confidence and less of a tendency to worry, plus a real creative ability.

Mercury in the Tenth House

Mercury in the Tenth House is a good position for novelists, reporters, teachers, the metaphysical professions, publishers, or for anyone dealing with the public. You are most likely ambitious, and have more than one career. You have good communication with nearly everyone, and tend to get along with employers and bosses. On the negative side, you can be restless or impulsive which could cause you to change your career often, or change your direction in life regarding aspirations and objectives.

Progress is important here. You will likely be able to carry responsibility well, depending on Mercury's placing in the signs. You need a variety of daily work, and intellectual stimulation, to feel fulfilled. Otherwise, you get bored easily. The connection to your father is also strong here, and you may choose to model your life after him. On a deeper level, you may have an inner "father" voice that represents authority to you, and that tells you what you should and shouldn't do.

The Tenth House is the amplifier of all that a person represents in the material world, such as reputation, honor and public standing. Other planets in this house will be amplified, especially if they are near the Midheaven. If you are a speaker, a writer, or a business person, you will be very successful. You have a very active, alert mind, and a practical and steadfast approach to life. You are a good organizer and planner, with real leadership ability and an excellent gift for working with the public. Many politicians and writers have this Mercury position in their natal chart.

Mercury sextile Neptune

You have an ability to intuitively sense what other people experience, thus this is a good aspect for writers or photographers. You may enjoy working in secret or on secret projects. There is a good balance between the logical and the spiritual, and much intuitive ability. Use any psychic gifts to unlock your creative, poetic mind and inspire others to get in contact with their Higher Self.

Mercury sextile Mars

This aspect gives you great energy to plan projects, and then to follow through. You are efficient, productive, and have an alert, sharp mind. Your reason and actions work well together, and you enjoy arguments and debates. You may be too restless and demanding--try to get into a regular exercise program. You can succeed in most professions involving leadership.

Mercury conjunct Pluto

You have enormous will power that you use to seek out the truth in all situations. You love to pierce the masks of others' secrets, to delve into the unknown. This aspect is good for detective work or investigators, scientists or researchers. You have a penetrating mind that can be overbearing at times, but is a great wellspring of strength and energy. Your danger is misusing your power. Mercury gives you the ability to communicate with the outside world, and Pluto adds the depth of probing and research needed to penetrate any situation. However, how you use this ability is up to you--whether constructively or destructively.

You likely have a great desire for intellectual recognition, and the ability to influence others, though very subtly. Guard against being too hasty, irritable or impatient, or overestimating your abilities. This aspect can lead to mental confusion and can cause nervous tension. If you can accept what is necessary for your growth and development, you can purge any self-centeredness and instability and gain real strength with this conjunction.

Venus in Libra

Venus rules here, and is at home and at her best. In Libra, an air sign, Venus becomes refined, aesthetic, artistic, giving you a kind and sympathetic nature and a love of the arts, music and drama. People with this placing usually have happy marriages, with talented children. They earn money in the areas that Venus rules, such as the arts, and seek harmony in all relationships.

Young at heart, with direct and clear emotions, you are likely to express your ideas on a mental and spiritual level rather than just on one superficial plane. You may be easily hurt, but don't hold grudges, and have a good sense of color that gives you an artistic flair. Generally, this powerful placement of Venus gives people physical beauty that attracts the opposite sex. Everything ugly repels you. Marriage is usually important, and there may be many opportunities for marriage. You are most likely easy to get along with, have a strong sense of justice, and harbor an innate understanding of people. This is a good position for success in the performing arts.

Any romantic, affectionate or idealistic tendency you have will be increased here, because of Venus' influence. You may fall in love with love, due to your strong need for love. You will be discriminate, though, since to you true love is of the spirit (although that doesn't mean you are sexually chaste). You will fall in love too easily at times, since people will be naturally attracted to you. The Libra influence will give you much tact, diplomacy, and kindness and sympathy when listening to the problems of other people. However, you may need to work on resentment, indecision, or a desire to buy the affections of others.

If you are a Leo, this placement makes you more laid-back, generous, with a tendency to put your loved one on a pedestal; if you are a Virgo, Libra helps your shy nature to relax and enjoy love relationships, easing your critical side. You may have a flair for creative handiwork, woodcarving, or dressmaking. If you are a Libra, your whole personality is enhanced, though money may be spent extravagantly. Venus here adds a colorful, romantic side to Scorpio's intense passion, increasing sympathy and understanding of partners, and encouraging the warm expression of feeling. If you are a Sagittarius, a sense of romance will be added to your exuberance, and you will enjoy the relationship as much as the chase. You will also likely have an increased craving for financial security.

Venus in the First House

Venus is at her potent best here, giving you considerable charm, friendliness, but sometimes a "me first" attitude. Your early life was most likely pleasant and harmonious. You have a need to relate to a partner, to love and be loved. You are most likely socially desirable, with innate sympathy and kindness, but may be sometimes lazy and laid-back. This placement also can bring luck somewhere into your life.

You may have true physical beauty, with a love of beautiful clothes. With your love of harmony and order, you would likely do well by working in some intimate or personal way with the public. You may also have an appreciation of beauty or some artistic expression, and may be talented yourself. You may have a dislike of exercise, or even a weight problem.

Venus sextile Pluto

This aspect gives you much creativity in music or the arts. You have a magnetic personality, a strong sex drive, and can influence other people. You listen to your intuition and follow its guidance, and are considered a 'tower of strength' to your friends. You feel deeply for others, are very passionate, and have good financial ability.

Venus conjunct Neptune

This is a beautiful aspect, giving you on the one hand physical beauty--people are drawn to your gentleness, sensitivity, and elusive spiritual nature. At its highest, you can exude a spiritual love that seems almost divine; at its lowest, you are a romantic dreamer who is a burden to others, unreliable and even deceptive at times. This aspect gives much creativity, and if tapped, an appreciation and talent in music or art. There is a tendency to idealize your romantic partner, and you may have problems with disillusionment in love by getting involved with deceitful people. But often, if developed, there is an innate healing ability and transcendent knowledge that can be put to use to help others in need. Unless you are self-aware, you may need some kind of prodding to push you towards the realization of this talent.

You are psychically sensitive, but can be timid and insecure at times. If you are weak, this conjunct makes you unstable and changeable concerning emotions; in an advanced soul, this combination suggests a higher level of thinking by using intuition to discover Universal Love and Divine Compassion.

Venus conjunct Mars

You may be experiencing a conflict here between your raw, sexual desires (Mars) and your spiritual desire for love, harmony and beauty (Venus). This is a very sensual aspect--extremely passionate, and you are likely very attractive to the opposite sex and have experienced many different types of relationships in your lifetime, many of them not good. Sexuality is a big issue for you, and if Mars is stronger here, you may even have been promiscuous at some point. At its worst, this aspect denotes raw sexual exploitation. In its highest expression, this placement can mean a generous and loving outpouring of help to others. To which category do you belong?

Mars represents sex in the younger soul, probably what you lusted after as a youth, yet as you grow older this energy may give way to strength, courage and transform into the Venusian capability to love someone outside of yourself. Although some astrologers believe this placement can suggest bi-sexuality, it may be more accurate to say that there is a good balance between charm and aggressiveness here and that you are a sensual personality. Mars here represents the individual and the animal soul, which can be crude and combative in its attempt to break free from the close confines of the refined and feminine Venus. The old battle between love and lust will be present, and there may even be a struggle for power in the subconscious. Still, you have sex appeal and a strong magnetism. Use it constructively and let your artistic soul take its own unique shape.

Mars in Libra

Mars here gives you direct energy, which you use to help balance the forces around you. Those forces are likely to be found socially, among the people you are with. The Libran influence makes you charming, witty, socially pleasing to be with; you have no desire to rock the boat, and will seek peace if it can be found. You want harmony, whether it seems idealistic or not, and you are strongly influenced by the people around you.

As a result, this placement may make you appear to fluctuate or to be indecisive as you find it difficult to take a stand on an issue that may seem unpleasant. Sexually, you may be bold and sensuous, and a lot of your time may be spent pleasing your partner. Still, you are more than likely to be sought after rather than the aggressor. You likely are relaxed and at times may be languid, due to Libra's influence, but also you will work hard to find a partner and work even harder once in a relationship. You are also strongly influenced by beauty and aesthetics, and you shun anything repugnant or violent.

You like to put your energies into maintaining a sense of democracy or fairness in your environment. If someone is being treated unfairly, you feel it is your duty to speak up. Unfortunately, you are not always as strong as you would like to be in terms of maintaining your sense of justice. You have the right idea, but you come up against walls because you feel a desire to please people at whatever cost. This causes you to go against the grain of your true beliefs at times. You may even appear lazy or noncommittal, though inside you may have a conflict.

You may have a unique artistic gift and the ability to express yourself with balance and taste. Try to cultivate this talent and use it to your advantage when expressing your views on justice.

Mars in the First House

Mars is exalted here in the First House, giving you lots of energy and a direct way of expressing it. You are likely very passionate, initiate activities, and can be quite bold and adventurous in your dealings with people. The stand-alone quality of Mars gives you an independent streak. You enjoy taking risks and have a great vitality; hence you should get plenty of exercise or participate in sports to release your vibrant energy. Unfortunately, you may be prone to accidents so be careful you don't get too reckless.

You like to throw yourself into whatever you do. If this is not obvious, you may be affected by other planets which could hide your great reservoir of energy; if this is true, don't become indirect or manipulative to get what you want. Try to work on creatively asserting your natural strength through intense activity, especially physical tasks. Your true nature will be courageous, even fearless at times, but watch that you don't dominate others; you have leadership tendencies, but may lack direction. Mars is fiery and full of energy, which can also give you a temper; strive to be authentic, honest, spontaneous and strong.

Mars conjunct Ascendant

You are forceful, and aggressive, and are a natural leader--you leave your mark wherever you go. If you master the art of diplomacy, you can accomplish whatever you set your mind to; if you don't, you'll alienate people and make them angry. You have a tendency to plunge into things without much forethought with your aggressive, impulsive energy. At its extreme, this aspect can bring reckless, accident-prone behavior. There is a danger of high fevers when ill.

Mars square Midheaven

You may experience strife at work and at home, with problems in one place triggering problems in the other. You may have the tendency to bring home problems from work, creating disputes with family members. Don't be an agitator--think before you speak. Respect authority, and don't get in trouble with the law.

Mars conjunct Neptune

This aspect gives you a real gift--a strong psychic ability that can unite your physical and spiritual energies, and enable you to even heal others. However, this can be a difficult placing and even destructive, causing obsessive behavior, strange kinks in your character, uncontrolled psychic forces, and general confusion and restlessness. You may seek satisfaction through your senses in the outer world, rather than realizing that true happiness can only be found within. Often, this kind of damage is not discovered until it's too late, and you may be riddled with self-delusions. As a result, you need to be absolutely honest with yourself, as well as with others. You need to accept responsibility and discipline in your life. If you do, and if you follow a "higher path," this conjunction can give you mysticism and you may even choose the religious life as a career.

Some astrologers believe people with this placement have a strong reaction to drugs and alcohol, and should stay away from them; you may also have reverse reactions to some drugs or be susceptible to infectious diseases and poisoning.

Jupiter in Libra

Libra's influence on Jupiter gives you a good sense of balance and impartiality--you try to be fair to everyone, especially those you are closest to. You likely will benefit through a partnership with someone, whether it is through marriage or business. You also probably are attracted to art and beauty, with a need for refinement and love for luxury, and you yourself are probably very attractive.

You have a great deal of love and affection to give to a partner, and usually show your support through an encouraging word or enthusiastic gesture. This may make you seem overly dependent on your loved one, but the truth is you seek growth within a relationship in a fair, objective way. As a result, many opportunities will arise through relationships, especially through sincere communication, which you approach in a diplomatic way. You enjoy sharing in a cooperative way with others, but may have a conflict between the need to weigh all sides of an issue (a Libran tendency) and expressing yourself confidently with your actions (Jupiter). Still, you are kind, sympathetic, even charming. Some might call you laid-back, with a natural friendliness. You must guard against being lazy, and a strong Mars placement will help you in this area.

You are probably an idealist, and may even sacrifice your own interests to benefit the "cosmic harmony" of your relationship with a person. This is because you see the inherent value of your relationships, and treasure them above many other things in life. You also have realized the many benefits and good luck granted to you from generous people. If all else goes well, this placement is a good sign for long-lasting marriages and a happy home life. You are well balanced both physically and mentally, with many talents, including an outgoing personality. Though you likely benefit through relationships, remember the opposite may also be true: any negative energy from planets could spell out adversity for you in terms of partnerships. Watch also your food intake, as people with this placement have a tendency to overindulge.

Jupiter in the First House

Jupiter brings good vibrations, and aspects associated with this planet usually center on what lies ahead, hope, and a bright future, rather than on the reality that is now. You are likely a great thinker and philosopher, constantly seeking to find a road to higher inspiration. With an expansive, magnetic personality, you have a positive outlook that naturally draws people to you, and you are warm-hearted generally. Sometimes you may be guilty of having too much optimism, and may have a problem of overextending yourself, or starting too many projects without finishing them. Still, you can inspire and motivate people with your natural enthusiasm, and are probably honest and open about accepting others.

You may be attracted to law, religion, or publishing--any field where you can glimpse a larger pattern, order or meaning to life. This search for higher rules or laws is many times spiritual, as you are really seeking truth or God. You have an excellent intellect that needs development, and may have a penchant for good food and wine, with a tendency to put on weight. Hangovers and indigestion are also potential problems for people with this placement.

You may also have a fondness for travel, expanding not just continents but your own mind as well by seeking higher education. Abundance is the key word here, and you yearn for it through pleasure, knowledge and enlarging your own sense of identity. You view life as a journey, and Jupiter here holds nothing back. You may be athletic, with a vitality that needs challenging. These types also make good executives, and Jupiter's good qualities of honesty, trustworthiness, friendliness and kindness will make you popular. Jupiter will also make you a leader, even if you don't think you are, especially in the areas of religion, education or law. This is a lucky placement for you; strive not to be egotistical or have an exaggerated opinion of yourself. You may also need discipline and to practice restraint, but you likely feel safe and secure in the protected rays of Jupiter's orb.

Jupiter trine Uranus

This is a lucky aspect, and truly things seem to happen to you without your having anything to do about them. You have a powerful, magnetic personality, and the opportunity for an unusual life, full of unexpected, out of the ordinary happenings. You do not like rules or constraints--indeed, you desire unrestricted freedom. Often this aspect brings real creative ability, and sometimes it can bestow genius. Your insight is probably highly developed, alerting you when to seize opportunities that others miss. As a result, you may have good luck with finances, especially in terms of receiving windfalls of money.

This aspect also brings unexpected opportunities to travel, and you may have unusual experiences abroad that expand your mind. Your political beliefs are likely liberal, and you undoubtedly have a spiritual outlook that is unconventional and metaphysical. This is a very fortunate aspect, and can show a very advanced consciousness, especially if the rest of your chart reveals philosophical depth. It reveals true originality combined with leadership ability, and a humanitarian outlook. You will likely develop and achieve success in mid-life.

Saturn in Leo

The showy, dynamic influence of Leo will be disciplined here by Saturn's stern inner structure and awesome capability to take on responsibility. While you may be enthusiastic and highly creative, it is also likely that there is a serious, practical side to your personality that is constructive and does not conflict with other elements in your chart. You have the urge and fire to express yourself artistically in any medium, and Leo gives you a desire to be recognized for your work and to feel validated. Saturn will make sure you work hard to achieve your ambitions, but it might also give you self-doubt; at its worst, you could become terrified of your own insignificant or mediocre achievements.

This placement will give you excellent staying power, determination, and the ability to lead and organize others. You are likely loyal, with a noble regality and a liking for convention and things that conform to the standards of your generation. This placement could also bring with it a twinge of autocracy or pompousness, especially if you experienced a military childhood or a strict upbringing. Try not to force your strict routines or disciplines on others; learn to let go of any inner authoritarian voice that is not sympathetic to your needs or feelings, or those of others. Learn a healthy humility, and remember that being firm and loving at the same time is the best approach to developing rapport with others.

You will likely have great pride in your accomplishments, with a strong will and heart that both need discipline. Your ego may lead you down roads you wouldn't ordinarily follow in order to find recognition; remember not to let your Self get in the way of solving problems, rather gather input from other people and use your intuition when deciding between right and wrong. As a perfectionist, you have a natural eye for high quality and a burning ambition to create anything that comes from within your heart--indeed, this can bring you deep happiness. Learn to trust this inner creative spirit; don't let the dark side of Saturn get in the way of expressing your inner goodness and value.

Finding an outlet to express your dramatic Leonine emotions and creativity will be the key to your happiness, and you may even be denied love or spirituality until you find that release of energy or flow. Solitude may help, as you may learn to overcome any obstacles to your growth by pushing through Saturn's outer limits to find and discard any ultimate barriers to peace and happiness. Saturn rules the bones and Leo rules the back and spine, so be kind to these parts of your body. Exercise regularly and sit up straight to develop a strong posture.

Saturn in the Tenth House

This can be a good, though harsh, placement for Saturn because the planet is in its home in the Tenth House of career and social standing. Its influence is strengthened, both good and bad, and for you this means much more responsibility, lots of ambition, and hard work. If everything goes o.k., this can translate into great success, achievement, public recognition and honors. However, you may have to pay your dues first, and there is the possibility of losing control if Saturn takes the wrong course. In such cases, one can become relentless, ruthless, and sacrificing everything--loved ones and family happiness--for the sake of some lofty "pie in the sky" goal.

The lesson here is not to become too preoccupied with achieving your objectives, not to lose sight of what is really important in life. Although you may have had an unhappy childhood, an unloving parent--possibly a cold father who was too strict and a disciplinarian--you need to learn humility and build your foundation on solid ground so that you don't just become a social climber where you put climbing and prestige as more important than service. Your ultimate test is power, and though you likely have a great reservoir of self-reliance and ambition, you need to focus them in the right direction--towards love and humility for a Higher Conscience, towards something greater than just yourself and your ambitions. Your good, often shrewd, business ability will see you through trying times, but if Saturn is negatively influenced by other planets in your chart you could experienced public disgrace, a fall from the heights of achievement. Still, this is a good placement for politicians and business executives.

The best traits here are responsibility, ambition and perseverance; the weakest are arrogance and coldness, pride and selfishness. Remember to show your emotions to those around you; don't put too much distance between yourself and your loved ones. Isolation may lead you to the success you hunger for, but it will not bring you happiness.

Aries ruling the Seventh House

As a Libra rising, you don't like strife or conflict, but you may be attracted to someone who is capable of fighting, of waging war, or at least of going to battle to defend himself. You may marry early in life to a strong, Arian type of person who may try to dominate you. You are the calm in the storm, are adjustable and adaptable in relationships, though you can fight to the death if your sense of justice is out of balance. Many war leaders have this placement, which usually denotes someone who prefers peace, but if there is absolutely no alternative, war is an option. Hence Mars, the ruling planet of Aries, is important here. There may be some kind of conflict between your independent, fiery Arian side which would prefer to stay dominant and not brought down by relationships, and the balanced Libran need to find a cooperative partnership. Guard against marrying impulsively, as you may learn some lessons the hard way. Saturn is also exalted here, and you may need to learn structure and discipline in your relationships to curb any tendency to be headstrong. This applies to business partnerships as well. Aries generally can bring strife and difficulties in relationships, but you have the resources to overcome any problems encountered with people close to you. Look to positive placements elsewhere in your chart, especially planets concentrated in many earth and water signs, to balance the dynamic fire element here.

Uranus in Gemini

The planet Uranus spends a total of seven years in each sign, and hence has more of a generational influence on you rather than a personal influence. People who were born with Uranus in Gemini between the years of 1942-1949, like you, should exhibit some similar characteristics, such as a restlessness, originality, and versatility--they can do many tasks at once, like to carefully think about different ideas, and may like to physically walk around a lot rather than sit still. These people also enjoy travelling, and enjoy meeting new people and discussing new ideas with them. They also like to pioneer their own new concepts, and can't stress enough the importance of education. Their main task is to find an outlet for their nervous energy, to communicate it verbally or through writing, or it can begin to border on the eccentric and strange. This energy can be found at the end of World War II and the beginning of the rebuilding effort that went on in Europe and Japan. In the U.S., the economy started its jittery recovery after the war officially ended in 1945.

Uranus in the Ninth House

Your greatest asset is your mind. Perhaps people have told you this. Uranus in the house of higher knowledge and religion gives you an original, far-reaching, almost brilliant mind that may have a scientific flair or unique literary talent. You don't like restrictions, and even higher education such as the university is no obstacle for you, even though you may have experienced breaks in your education for various reasons. There is a constant, restless need for stimulation, excitement, yet a cool, practical ability to solve problems through progressive thinking. Foreign travel stimulates you, and you may even be attracted to a partner who lives in another country that is vastly different from yours--you may even marry him or her. It is sure you will have provocative, mind-altering experiences when travelling.

You may enjoy travelling on the spur of the moment, although travelling to you does not always mean taking a physical trip. Indeed, you harbor many journeys of the mind by reading, meditating, praying, or other such spiritual adventures without even leaving your room! It is likely you may not belong to a standard, orthodox religious organization, but believe in your own higher truth and consciousness that points to a God that is very diverse. If your intuition is highly developed, you can almost seem prophetic and in touch with a Higher Consciousness; try to cultivate the art of listening to that inner voice. It is likely you are attracted to art or linguistics, publishing, teaching, science, foreign affairs, or the occul--such as astrology, reincarnation or esoteric religious beliefs.

You likely will take long journeys to foreign lands, and have a huge appetite to learn about each place you visit and discover more about a country's culture. Uranus in the Ninth House could bring bad luck in terms of having accidents while travelling long distances or abroad; also, be careful that you don't get "swept away" by a fanatical religious group or cult--you may be gullible in this area. You may also have trouble with your in-laws.

Neptune in Libra

Because the planet Neptune spends about 14 years in each sign, its influence on each individual is felt more as a 'generational' influence here rather than as a personal effect. In other words, this mystical planet is said to affect trends in the collective unconscious and spirituality in the charts of peers who have this planet placed in a given sign. For people born with Neptune in Libra (1943-1957), like you, the effects of this planet are generally said to produce socially responsible individuals who are blessed with artistic talents, a compassionate nature, and a creative imagination that enjoys friendships and especially partnerships such as marriage. The spirit of Libra finds its fulfillment through beauty and harmony, and coupled with Neptune, this placement is a dreamy one of idealism, imagination, inner consciousness and an intuitive responsiveness to art and music, which changed form drastically during this time. This was the birth of the flower power generation of the late sixties and early '70s, and produced the hippies--people full of harmony, peace and love, yet also impractical wisdom and self-deceptive illusions. This generation also influenced the giant shifts in terms of marriage, divorce, and attitudes towards partnerships in general.

Neptune in the First House

This placement almost always means extreme sensitivity, including psychic awareness and an ability to tune into any environment with intuition and compassionate understanding. If Neptune is too close to the Ascendant, however, the dreamy side of the planet can cloud the personality and undermine your self-confidence, and you may have to wrestle with escapist or idealistic tendencies all of your life. Your emotions likely affect your body to a great extent, and may even produce physical disorders if not overcome with self-control or discipline. Remember to keep a strong, positive mental attitude and combat any vague approach towards reality with a spiritual center that can easily shift focus from the self to a higher consciousness.

You are like a psychic sponge, soaking up the vibrations around you. This sensitivity makes you particularly vulnerable to drugs or alcohol, and you of all people should stay away from imbibing if you find yourself surrounded by these vices. Although Neptune can be responsible for producing self-delusions, confusion, and aimless drifting and dreaming, remember that this placement is also particularly promising in charts of intuitive individuals who can even become clairvoyant or inspired by mystic visions. You likely confuse and fascinate people, and Neptune in the Firstst House also produces many talented musicians. Whatever your talents or ambitions, however, make sure to develop them to your full potential; don't take the easy way out, as the darker, escapist notions of this planet can be powerful forces on your personality.

Neptune conjunct Ascendant

This aspect definitely confers psychic ability, but it must be developed to be seen. You may have a 'hypnotic' quality about you. If you are a woman, you are probably physically striking; if you are a man, you are probably charming and may be a seducer. Guard against using drugs or alcohol.

Neptune square Midheaven

This aspect can make you disorganized, unreliable, lazy or inefficient--unless the rest of your chart points another way. You may also have a tendency to be dishonest, perhaps not intentionally so. Your professional and home life may be in a state of confusion or turmoil until you set goals and stick with them. Try to find your passions and channel these energies constructively.

Pluto in Leo

Pluto is a mystery to many, and has a subtle, complex and deep influence on individuals. Astrologers are still trying to understand it today. Discovered in the 1930s, this planet has more of a collective effect on us rather than a personal one when travelling through the signs. It represents a form of extremely concentrated power, like a laser beam of light that can cut through the darkest storm. Unfortunately, it also has a dark side when used the wrong way to manipulate or control the masses. It can be a source of healing or a source of destruction, depending on how we tap into its energy, and its transcendental power is usually hidden in some way--perhaps deep in our psyche.

Pluto takes anywhere from 12 to 30 years to travel through each sign in the zodiac, thus affecting civilizations and generations rather than just individuals. It affected you because it was travelling through the constellation of Leo (1939-1957) when you were born, thus beginning an authoritarian era when leaders and dictators needed to have control over others--Hitler, Mussolini, Hirohito and FDR. For many countries, manipulation and ruthlessness dominated, until World War II ended in 1945. Pluto contributed to the rebuilding of Europe at the Yalta Conference, 1951-57, and also resurrected peace with the United Nations and the development of technology.

Parents born during this time probably were strong-willed and bore equally strong-willed children, though there may have been a tendency to dominate offspring or get into unnecessary power struggles with them. Though Pluto here may add a power complex to business dealings, it also puts emphasis on leisure, entertainment, adventurousness, and the baby boomers' tendency to 'show off' in their yuppie soul quest for security and style.

Elements

In a birth chart, we identify four different elements that point to different kinds of life energy: Air, Water, Earth, and Fire. The presence of these elements in our charts tell us something about our basic personalities and motivations.

In your chart, we find that the AIR element dominates.

Air

Everyone has a certain amount of energy or life flow, which when manifested in an astrological birth chart can be seen as predominantly one of four elements: air, fire, earth or water. The ancient Greeks believed these four ingredients made up all of matter, and many other cultures and mythologies have also developed a reality based upon this belief. Though nowadays we tend to shy away from such simplicities and instead marvel in our scientific and technological miracles, you will undoubtedly find that one of these qualities make up your personality, your way of being, and your most natural expression in the world.

In your chart we find the element air to dominate, which means more planets are found in air signs or air houses, especially important planets such as the sun, the moon, the personal planets, and the ascendant. This means that what primarily motivates you are thought patterns and the rational mind, and how to communicate those thoughts to others. You enjoy reading, discussing intellectual concepts, and trying to understand the energy that underlies the shape of the mind. The world of the ideas is where you live, hence you are not as concerned about the practical world of things, material possessions, your social life, emotions, or the spiritual realm. You may have a great ability to concentrate on a particular subject matter, or you may flit from one topic to another, depending on how your planets are aspected. You may enjoy talking to people about various topics, or you may prefer to communicate privately through writing, art or other abstract thought. Your biggest advantage is the ability to detach yourself from everyday life and be objective, thereby gaining a rational approach; this helps you to deal with all sorts of people without getting bogged down in their emotions and problems. However, watch that you don't become absorbed in a daydream, or preoccupied with abstract thoughts and ideas so that others cannot understand you. You likely prefer other air signs or fire signs, who can give you the freedom to express yourself, while earth signs can limit you and water signs can leave you feeling drenched in emotion. Use your reason to think your way through to solving your problems.

The second most frequent element found in your chart is the FIRE element. This element will also shape who you are, although its influence is not as strong as your primary element.

Fire

Everyone has a certain amount of energy or life flow, which when manifested in your astrological birth chart can be seen as predominantly one of four elements: air, fire, earth or water.

In your chart we find the element fire to dominate, which means more planets are found in fire signs or fire houses, especially important planets such as the sun, the moon, the personal planets, and the ascendant. This hot, radiant energy gives you sunbeams of life, and you typically enjoy direct action, lots of physical exercise, busy movement, and ascertive expression and enthusiasm whenever possible. Though you may need water and earth to sustain you, and a breeze to fan your flames, it is from the light of the sun that you gather all your warmth and energy, giving it to others in a powerful burst of inspiration and dynamic rays that can even be overpowering if not channelled properly. You may insist on getting your view across, and impatience and insensitivity are not uncommon with fire types. You are generally very strong, high spirited, high-strung, but needing discipline and an audience in which to funnel your source of wisdom. Don't rush into things too quickly. People with much fire in their charts tend to get along well other fire signs, or with air signs, such as Aquarius, Gemini or Libra, who can stimulate them into action and get them to respond to problems with intensity. You probably need to learn to think slowly before jumping head or heart first into any plan, although you are likely self-motivated and a real go-getter. You may be an entrepreneur, constantly starting new projects with courage and energy. The ego is strong here, shouting out "I am here!", and seeking affirmation to all who will listen. People may not answer, but they see the light that you bring.

Lack of Water

As human beings we all exude a certain amount of energy, which in the birth chart is symbolized by four elements: earth, air, water and fire. Two of these elements, fire and air, and representative of the Chinese principle of Yang and usually are more dynamic, active, self-expresive, and can always be seen in social interaction, verbal expression, and physical activity. The other two, water and earth, represent the Chinese principle of Yin and show the passive, receptive qualities of life, often unconsciously and instinctively. These types of people live more within themselves and don't show much action without thinking about it first, and without using a lot of caution and intensity.

Some people actually show a lack of an element, in which case there is a side to their personality which is undeveloped, or something which they are not consciously in contact with and which needs to be cultivated in order to achieve a fully developed and well-rounded life. In your chart, there is a lack of the water element, which means you have the most difficulty with emotions--whether it is your own, those of your friends or loved ones, or even those of distant colleagues. To others, you may seem distant and cold, but it is not that you don't have emotions it is just that you have no idea how to tame or temper them, and you may disregard them altogether. You may prefer to brush them under the rug, relying instead on your airy ideas and thoughts, or you may be blind to the needs of others, so consumed by your own actions and daily activities. As a result, you may actually be more dependent on others, unconsciously, because of your inability to express your own emotions--you look for others to do it for you. You also may distrust your own intuition, which could lead to danger. Try to unblock your emotions; learn to write in a journal, pencil or sketch out your feelings, or just try to talk out any feelings with a close friend. Remember that feelings are important and can lead to a higher quality of life; suppressing them can lead to numbness and an inability to enjoy yourself, loneliness, fear, the opposite of joy. You may need time to really identify and release your emotions; others can also help you in this area, especially if you are suppressing pain and suffering. Remember that disregarding emotions often leads to more pain. Physically, try to drink more water and clean out the toxicity in your body--water is a healing, purging element that can cleanse and purify.

Lack of Earth

In your chart, there is a lack of the earth element, which means you feel uncomfortable just living here in the mundane world, and are not naturally attuned to the limitations of the body, the earth, or the "material plane" you see around you. To others you may seem "spaced out," but that's probably because your head is full of airy ideas and inspirations, or watery imaginings, truths and feelings--you don't have time for all this down-to-earth reality stuff! Practical is not a favorite word in your vocabulary, and sometimes you may have to scrape and scrouge to get all the basics--food, shelter, money--just to get by because you forget you have to do this in the real world, and they seem of secondary importance to you anyway. You may even rebel against all these seemingly unfair demands on you, only to find you don't really belong anywhere, and you may have trouble fitting in. It is likely you will find more fulfillment going on a spiritual quest, transcending the limitations of this earthly plane, pursuing your gifted imagination, psyche or mind and following it to its end--whether it be art, beauty, music, religion, or some other worldly pursuit. Just don't forget to eat, feed your family and sleep while you are on your journey! The biggest lesson here is to learn to keep at least one foot planted on the ground, or to realize that those around you--especially those with earth signs--can help you find your way in the world as you look heavenward. Also, a strong Saturn in your chart can help discipline any wild urgings.
